Comsol Schedules Next Multi-Physics Conference

Comsol is to hold its seventh annual conference on multi-physics modelling and simulation on 13-15 October 2011 at the Boston Marriott Newton. Users of Comsol Multiphysics are invited to submit abstracts describing projects in which they have made achievements using simulation software.

Suggested, but not mandatory, topic areas for oral and poster presentations include: acoustics and vibrations; batteries and fuel cells; bioscience and bioengineering; chemical reaction engineering; computational fluid dynamics; education; electrochemistry; geophysics; heat transfer and phase change; electromagnetics; MEMS and piezoelectric devices; microfluidics; multi-physics; nanotechnology; numerical methods; optimisation; optics, photonics and plasmonics; plasma physics, EHD and MHD; porous media flow; quantum mechanics; radio frequency and microwaves; semiconductor devices; sensors and actuators; structural mechanics; and transport phenomena.

Abstracts should briefly summarise the individual's/group's work using Comsol Multiphysics, with a particular focus on the problem, model setup, simulation results and conclusions. Abstract submissions will be reviewed by the Conference Program Committee. Committee members are Acumentrics, BAE Systems, BD Medical, Boston Scientific, Carnegie Mellon University, Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Dalhousie University, Dupont Engineering Research and Technology, GE Global Research Center, General Motors, Hypertherm, Johnson Screens, Lockheed Martin, Naval Research Laboratory, Pennsylvania State University, Physical Measurement Lab-NIST and Purdue University.

Authors of accepted paper or poster submissions will present their work at the conference. In addition, final versions of the accepted papers or posters will become a permanent part of the conference proceedings, which, in recent years, have been distributed to more than 100,000 engineers and scientists worldwide.

All presenters will have the opportunity to become the winner of the Best Paper Award or the Best Poster Award. Programme committee members vote and award prizes for the best paper, while the best poster is chosen by popular vote among fellow conference attendees. Abstracts submitted by the early-bird deadline of 17 June will receive a reduced registration rate of USD195 (GBP121). The final deadline for the submission of abstracts is 1 August.
